History
At Friarage school, we aim to provide a history curriculum that enables pupils to develop:
- a deep knowledge and understanding of the past,
- to inspire curiosity,
- to promote critical thinking.
Our intent is to ensure that every pupil has an opportunity to learn about different periods, events, people in history and to appreciate how these have shaped the world we live in today. This includes the study of British history, Scarborough's heritage and the history of the wider world.
Our history curriculum is designed to be a window to the past and a mirror of who we are. The children will study a range of cultures and historical perspectives, celebrating the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups. We also strive to incorporate a range of resources and teaching styles that cater to individual learning needs and abilities, including those with SEND and EAL.
