Qualification - GCSE
Course Overview
This GCSE in Physical Education will equip students with the knowledge they need to be able to develop and maintain their performance in physical activities. Students will formulate an understanding of how physical activities benefit health, fitness and wellbeing; whilst developing their theoretical knowledge and understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and sport.

Personal Exercise Programme (PEP)
Skills Required

• A desire to develop a holistic understanding of PE, sport and sports

Assessment Method
COMPONENT 1 Written Exam 1 hour 30 minutes
COMPONENT 2 Written Exam 1 hour 15 minutes
COMPONENT 3 Non-examined assessment. Students must complete three physical activities from a set list.
COMPONENT 4 Non-examined assessment. Students must produce a ‘Personal Exercise Programme’. All exams will be taken at the end of Year 11.
Post 16 Opportunities and careers
Successful completion of GCSE PE will allow for transition into both BTEC or A-Level PE, along with other sport courses. GCSE PE will provide an excellent foundation to studying Level 3 Sport BTEC delivered at LLS sixth form. This can lead to careers in coaching, sports development, physiotherapy, sports management, physical training, nutritionist and even teaching!
