At Lady Lumley’s School we offer a variety of care, guidance and support to students beyond the classroom. If you have any queries or concerns regarding your child there are a number of people that you may wish to contact. For any general concerns or information please contact your child’s Pastoral Officer in the first instance. There is also a Key Stage Director attached to your child’s year group whose role it is to oversee any academic, behaviour, attendance or social issues.

Social Media, Mobile Phones and E-Bullying
There is increasing concern in schools nationally about incidents of e-bullying via text, email, Facebook etc. Parents are asked to be very vigilant over their child's use of such sites. Please note it is now possible to put very tight controls on your Facebook page which blocks access to all but your own “friends”. The protection that school has in place is as follows:
- School Email – any school emails containing offensive words or phrases are immediately re-directed to the Senior Management Team for appropriate action
- Mobile phones/MP3 players are not permitted to be used on the school site. If a student does bring a phone/MP3 player into school it must be switched off and in the student’s bag for the duration of the school day. Staff will confiscate any mobile phone that is seen and it will be returned at the end of the day.
Wellbeing in Mind Team
At Lady Lumley's we work closely with the Wellbeing In Mind Team (WIMT). Pupils might have seen us already in school and hopefully watched our introduction presentation. The Wellbeing In Mind Team is Lady Lumley’s Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and made up of multidisciplinary practitioners coming from a variety of backgrounds which allows us to make sure you are getting the best level of support at the right time.
We are employed by the NHS, working in schools and colleges across York and North Yorkshire to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing – working directly with students as well as staff and parents.
Part of our role includes delivering Whole School Approach (WSA), coming into school to host workshops, take assemblies and be part of Life curriculum lessons.
We aim to visit every half term with a themed stall to speak to pupils, with the hope of increasing discussion and reducing stigma around mental health and wellbeing.
Our aim is to improve knowledge of how to maintain good mental and know when to ask for more help when needed to ensure safety and wellbeing.
We do work individually and in groups, using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy treatment for pupils who have a mental need and can support with mild to moderate difficulties including: low mood, anxiety, worry, low self-esteem, fears, phobias, panic, and OCD.
The service is low-intensity and considered a preventative, early intervention.
