To be agreed academic year 2025-2026

Pre-16 means EYFS to year 6 in a Primary School, year 7 to year 11 in Secondary Schools.  Post 16 applies to 6th form provision (year 12&13) in those schools who have a 6th form.

An 'In-Year admission' is when you need to make an application to a school outside of the normal admissions round and at a time when your child should already be attending school.  This may be due to a desire to transfer school, having just arrived in the area or having participated in elective home education.  Please be aware that schools transfers are regulated by a panel of Headteachers and the Local Authority.

Normal admissions round is the application for entry to school for children starting school in September for EYFS, year 7 or year 12.

Published Admissions Number (PAN)

The PAN is the number of learners that a school would expect to take in a normal EYFS or year 7 admissions round.  This would be different for the SUTC where admission is into year 9 or for the SUTC and Lady Lumley’s where admissions to post-16 education is also subject to a PAN.  Normally the school is only allowed to allocate numbers in agreement with the PAN.
