F1 in Schools: The World's Largest STEM Competition
F1 in Schools (now STEM Racing) is the world’s largest STEM competition, challenging teams of up to six students to immerse themselves in the exciting world of engineering, design, enterprise, and manufacturing. Teams develop and race miniature F1 cars capable of reaching speeds of over 70 km/h, all while managing every aspect of a professional motorsport team.
At Scarborough UTC, our dedication to technical excellence has driven student participation in this prestigious competition since 2017. Over the years, our teams have achieved a series of remarkable accomplishments that reflect their talent, innovation, and hard work.

Unity Racing: From World Finals to National Champions
In November 2024, Unity Racing travelled to the Middle East to compete in the largest F1 in Schools World Finals to date. The team emerged as world champions in two categories and secured an impressive 10th place overall.
Returning home with renewed determination, Unity Racing has gone from strength to strength—now proudly crowned UK National Champions. Fueled by their success and the invaluable experiences gained, the team is pushing boundaries with groundbreaking innovations set to debut on the world stage later this year in Singapore.
This journey would not be possible without the unwavering support of our brilliant local, national, and international sponsors. Their continued backing allows us to compete and grow at this elite level year after year.
As part of our school’s enrichment programme, F1 in Schools is open to all students—offering life-changing opportunities and inspiring the next generation of engineers, designers, and leaders.
