Spring Term in Year 1
Year 1 have had a super busy Spring term. We have learnt about place value and addition and subtraction within 20 in maths. We have also learnt and retold the story of The Three Little Pigs as well as reading and writing acrostic poems in English.
Our science learning has been learning about materials and their properties. We carried out lots of different investigations such as floating and sinking, transparent and opaque and how absorbent they were.
We have learnt about the changes that happen around us related to Spring and found some frog spawn in our school pond!
In RE we have learnt about sacred places for Christians and visited our local church, St Laurence'. We went on a scavenger hunt to see if we could find all the features of the church.
We held a Crafternoon and our grown-ups came in to learn about our school values. We made dream catchers and paper chain rainbows.
And finally, we have helped our local community by going on a litter pick outside school and at the local park. We collected the equivalent of 4 bin bags of rubbish!
